RingCentral will extend its unified communications technology to develop and power Rainbow Office in association with Alcatel Lucent Enterprise, driven primarily by its ecosystem of enterprise customers. This is RingCentral’s third strategic partnership since June.

Networking, communications and cloud tech solutions provider Alcatel Lucent and RingCentral have announced a partnership spanning multiple years. The partnership revolves around the development and delivery of a co-branded UCaaS solution called Rainbow Office based on RingCentral’s technology. Under the new partnership, the two companies will deliver Rainbow Office as a cloud comms solution powered by RingCentral.

Jack Chen, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise said, “Customers demand agile, robust and secured cloud communication and collaboration solutions in today’s high-speed technology world.”

The partnership entails technology integrations and pioneers a new way of developing and delivering cloud communications for enterprises. Ched added, “For our customers and partners, this strategic partnership enables us to offer them a wider choice of technology-leading cloud solutions, to comprehensively cover their business needs.” It aims to incorporate the basics of UCaaS, augmented with tailor-made customizations suitable to, and demanded by each unique customer.

RingCentral will pay Alcatel Lucent $100 million in cash for exclusive access, a minimum seat commitment, and future commissions. This is one of the first times organizations are implementing a ‘verticalized business approach in networking, communications, and cloud’ for UCaaS. It signifies a shift away from a generalized approach to the development of enterprise communication solutions, to an ecosystem-driven model.

Chen further added, “This partnership will enable Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise to accelerate the development and transformation of our cloud business to become the number one player in cloud solutions in Europe and beyond focusing on vertical solutions and services to make everything connect. It will bring significant opportunities for our well-established business partner ecosystem and strong values for our customers.”

RingCentral’s partnership with Alcatel Lucent Enterprise is the company’s third major deal in the last few months. The company partnered with Avaya in June for Avaya Cloud Office, and with Atos in July for Unify Office.

Rainbow Office is expected to hit the enterprise communications market sometime in Q1 2021.
