1. 44% Businesses Say Data Quality Is a Key Challenge: Progress

Progress recently revealed findings of its 6th Annual Data Connectivity Survey,Opens a new window highlighting the need for businesses to stay connected, especially during these unprecedented times when organizations are working remotely.

The report found that 44% of respondents believe data quality is a critical aspect and a key challenge. That is up 30% from just 14% in 2017. With businesses moving remote, cloud migration has also become important with almost 56% of organizations already working on or planning projects in 2020.

The importance of real-time hybrid data connectivity is on the rise with organizations attempting to connect their cloud apps to on-premises data, behind a firewall, while connecting data from across hybrid, multi-cloud environments.

James Goodfellow, Product Marketing Manager, Progress, in an exclusive commentary shared with Toolbox said, “With the world now remote, data connectivity and data management is more important than ever for companies, but does not come without issue. Our survey found that 44% of respondents said data management is a key challenge, which is a huge jump up from 14% in 2017. As companies are now migrating data to the cloud, they are forced to address new hurdles concerning data quality, connectivity and integration with premises data. But despite these concerns, over half indicated that they have overcome prior concerns about cloud security and data protection.”

2. Only 24% of Businesses Adapt to Changing Environment With No Downtime: Insight Report

A survey intelligent technology solutions, InsightOpens a new window , reported that the impact of COVID-19 made businesses move to remote working almost immediately. To do so, 40% of organizations had to develop or refine a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and 15% were not successful in doing so.

Out of the 55% that enabled remote working, 24% of respondents did so with zero downtime. The report further reveals that 54% of businesses were not prepared for the business change, 49% accept being extremely impacted, and 65% state that they are now ready to face any similar or big situation.

79% responders state that IT would now hold a higher priority in their organization than it did previous to the pandemic.

3. 93% Businesses Have Changed IT Priorities, 29% Had No Plans to Respond to Changing Environment: Telstra Survey

Telecommunications and technology company Telstra, unveiled a new research titled- “Business Continuity, Flexible Working and Adaptive Infrastructure: Five Actions for When the Economy Reopens Following COVID-19.”Opens a new window Telstra gathered data from more than 120 business leaders from the regions of Asia Pacific, Europe, and the United States.

93% of businesses admit to having restructured thier IT priorities to ensure that employees, data, and application connectivity remain secure. 23% of businesses did not have a plan to respond to such a situation and 14% did have a proper business continuity plan (BCP) in place for events like the pandemic.

4. 52% Rise in Overshared Sensitive Documents amidst COVID-19- Concentric Data Risk Industry Report

Concentric Inc, a leading vendor in intelligent AI-based solutions for protecting business-critical data released its Data Risk ReportOpens a new window . The report revealed a 52% increase in the oversharing of sensitive business files. This increase is believed to have happened due to the transition to the work-from-home environment.

The report titles around 105 business-critical files that were overshared per employee, up from just 38 in the first-quarter report on the same subject.

5. Vulnerabilities in OSS Have doubled: RiskSense Survey Reveal

Pioneering risk-based vulnerability management and prioritization company RiskSense unveiled its new RiskSense Spotlight ReportOpens a new window on vulnerabilities in leading open-source software (OSS) being used in nearly 96 percent of all commercial codebases.

The report reveals the OSS vulnerabilities have doubled in the year going from 421 to 968. Also, the report revealed that it takes a long time to report these vulnerabilities, leaving the systems susceptible to risk for a longer period.
