At least according to Craig Durr, Senior Analyst at Wainhouse Research, who, after his team polled decision makers in North America regarding post-COVID-19 safety measures in meeting rooms, saidOpens a new window “Our research indicates that in the next 12 to 18 months, voice-based controls will be a top technology of interest, potentially leapfrogging alternative solutions that require touching a remote control, room-based PC or some other piece of shared equipmentâ€.
In a bid to create safe collaboration and communication spaces, Lifesize and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the integrationOpens a new window of each of their respective solutions to enter the previously unexplored collaboration spaceOpens a new window . Lifesize will natively integrate their Icon series (Icon 300â„¢, Icon 500â„¢, Icon and 700â„¢) video conference system into AWS’s voice assistant, Alexa for Business.

The integration will create a voice-activated, touch-free collaboration experience, which brings Alexa for Business’ intelligent voiceOpens a new window capabilities to the enterprise conferences, through the Lifesize Admin Console.
Users can customize preferences in accordance with business and conference needs like:
- Conference room management: check availability, calendar integration
- Room automation controls: smart lights, thermostats, touchscreens, power shades, etc
- Virtual IT support, incident reporting
- Confidentiality: Lifesize devices are now Alexa Voice Service certified for privacy and solid security
- Cloud support
One of the highlights of the contactless collaboration system is that it requires no additional hardware.
Both Lifesize and AWS are offering complimentary service trial of the integrated solution to joint customers, for 90 days.
