New Asana Integration Promises to Keep Productivity Killers at Bay

A new integration in Asana promises fewer distractions for developers. The active Time Manager assistant makes task execution easier by enabling teams to block focused time for work.

The lack of boundaries between personal and professional lives amid remote work environments has been well-documented. It’s not uncommon to find professionals complaining about their to-do list, which is now out of control more than ever. And when it comes to task management, things couldn’t get any harder in these uncertain times.

To tackle these challenges and help teams organize their work effectively, KosmoTime, a Time Manager, announced a new integration with Asana that allows users to put Asana tasks directly on the calendar.

There’s no doubt that Asana is a great tool for teamwork, but it does have limitations which hinder productivity. A user on YCombinatorOpens a new window writes, “Have always had problems with asana. It was always to limited for _my_ use-case (as a developer), and how other teams I’ve worked with did use it was awful. asana lacks granularity, or anything meaningful in terms of enforceable process.”

Once you figure it out, you’ve all of a sudden got 100 incomplete tasks that are loaded wrong, and it’s a time suck to fix.

This is where KosmoTime integration helps, with “three blocks”:

  • Minimize Context Switching: Bundles similar tasks in blocks so that users aren’t exhausted by context switching
  • Time Blocking: Block focused time on the calendar to work on tasks
  • Distraction Blocking: Block distractions such as Slack notifications and unwanted tabs until a task is completed

Nicolas VandenbergheOpens a new window , CEO at KosmoTime told Toolbox, “Stepping in and out of an office provides a switch of context: you’re now at work, it’s time to focus on work tasks. In remote work this no longer happens. At any time a meeting may be  interrupted by the need to feed a toddler or the temptation to open the fridge.”

But how does  KosmoTime differ from other task and time management solutions? “Time management apps record the time spent on tasks, typically to bill clients and/or do some reports. But a Time Manager is something different. It’s about helping users actively manage their time, making the most of their available working hours. And KosmoTime has a new paradigm that we call Time Manager, as opposed to time management,” he added.

With KosmoTime’s integration with Asana, users can sync the two to pull tasks in Asana into the KosmoTime dashboard and calendar. Aaron Kim, Marketing Coordinator at Maxii Luxii, said, “I love being able to group tasks into sprints, and also the fact that any tasks I add are actually added to my calendar! It means I can see what tasks are coming next on all my devices with calendars.”

Employees need to make sure they are utilizing their time effectively without feeling micromanaged. By empowering them to manage their time with tools that blend with existing project/task management solutions, they can streamline their tasks more effectively.

KosmoTime will also be integrated with Trello.
