SAP Ventures Into No-Code Application Development With AppGyver Acquisition

With this move, the ERP giant has made the Finnish no-code platform’s solutions part of its Business Technology Platform, and will offer the solutions to enable enterprise customers to efficiently use their IT systems for optimum use of their applications.

“AppGyver helps us expand our no-code capabilities and establish a comprehensive offering in this area,” said Michael Weingartner, president, SAP Business Technology Platform Core, SAP. “Going forward, we can deliver a full range of simple and integrated application development tools that allow customers, partners and our own teams to enhance process automation and further improve the experience for users of SAP applications.” With AppGyver solutions, the company can facilitate the creation of workflows, forms, robotic process automation, and lightweight case management.

AppGyver was founded in 2010 with the vision to democratize application development. It released Composer Pro in 2020, making it possible to create new apps with simple drag-and-drop functions. SAP has already partnered with Mendix Tech BV, a part of Siemens AG, on low-code offering, and AppGyver will be a fresh addition to the company’s technology offerings.

This year, SAP launched RISE, a business transformation service bundle to consolidate multiple customer contracts into a single subscription model. RISE would essentially act as a concierge to the intelligent enterprise to control service level agreements, operations, and support. With AppGyver in its kitty, SAP can broaden the scope of RISE and enable holistic business transformations, making them resilient, agile, and intelligent.

SAP and AppGyver have not disclosed the purchase price or other financial details of the transaction. However, Marko Lehtimäki, co-founder of AppGyver, confirmed no immediate change to the product, and users can continue to develop their existing and future products. “In the future, there will be integrations with SAP products, which will bring new opportunities to our enterprise customers.
