  • The loss of critical business insights due to the difficulty in joining, augmenting and integrating data from different silos
  • The data governance nightmare posed by fragmented and proliferated data
  • The cost inefficiencies of managing capacity in such fragmented environments

Leveraging secure data sharing technology and the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform which underpins the Data Cloud; customers, partners, and data service providers can share live data in a manner that is secure and well-governed.

The end-to-end process is virtual and frictionless, as data shared is streamlined with zero latency. Irrespective of different cloud providers and geographical regions, organizations can move their siloed cloud repositories and on-premises data centers to Data Cloud via Snowflake Cloud Data Platform.

Expansion of Cloud Data Warehouse Capabilities

One of the major players in the cloud data warehouse market, Snowflake announced some interesting new features to its Snowflake Cloud Data Platform:

  • Snowsight: a new schema browser to execute data queries and commands in Snowflake. Also helps to collaborate and visualize data for a streamlined experience
  • Dynamic Data Masking: users can create policies to limit data visibility (still in private view)
  • External Tokenization: integrates with third-party tokenization solutions to secure sensitive data
  • Search Optimization Service: reduces data scan time and improves performance
  • Java Functions: create user defined functions in Snowflake with different programming languages
  • Data Exchange: create data exchanges with a set of partners, suppliers and customers in a secure and governed manner
  • Snowflake Data Marketplace: users can discover and access third-party data sets for richer analytics and data transformation

“The feature enhancements we’re announcing today will help companies unify, integrate, analyze, and share virtually any amount of data, eliminating the complexity and friction of alternative solutions,” Snowflake’s Senior Vice President of Product, Christian Kleinerman said.

In separate news, Snowflake announced a slew of technology innovations from its partnership with global CRM company Salesforce, to deliver data and analytics modernization and boost business transformation.
