SugarCRM has acquired an email integration product from CollabspotOpens a new window  in a deal regarded as another move by the Cupertino, California, software company to offer a more intuitive and collaborative system that can help eliminate time-consuming data entry tasks.

Collabspot was launched by the Singapore company of the same name in 2012. The product specializes in integrating customer relationship management (CRM) systems with Google and Microsoft. Collabspot  simplifies data entry tasks by synchronizing emails, contacts and calendars with the web application Sugar, giving sales teams a 360-degree view of customers and supporting their communications with prospects.

SugarCRM said the acquisition will help it develop intuitive and collaborative tools, providing insights and recommendations that draw on real-time analysis and communications.

The acquisition follows the appointment of Craig Charlton as CEO, who has been tasked with leading the company in the next stage of its growth through acquisitions and an expanded portfolio of products.

“This (Collabsport) acquisition represents a significant tech step forward as we look to further integrate business productivity suites and CRM, two of the biggest communication data sources for businesses,” Charlton says. “Not only will it improve the quality of insight by ensuring that CRM is at the center of data and conversation, it also makes Sugar even more convenient and user friendly for our customers.”

Charlton says the software company plans to integrate Collabspot into SugarCRM’s core tools and future AI and predictive offerings. SugarCRM has been gathering feedback from its customers, who have indicated that they want an integration product like Collabspot in its CRM platform.

SugarCRM launched Hint Insights last monthOpens a new window as part of its winter 2019 release schedule. This new tool pushes relevant signals to users via multiple channels, keeping them up to date with breaking developments. Hint includes multichannel alerts and configurable filters. Together, the alerts and filters will enable users to focus on the keywords and events they need to view, such as funding announcements and personnel changes.

Hint also provided users with clearer information in additional to browser notifications, like daily digest reports and email notifications.

The winter release also included a comments log that lets sales teams keep relevant conversations within Sugar. This is being made available in both custom and out-of-the-box variants.

Users can also download any report type to CSV files, further adding to how business insights are gathered and processed from the CRM platform.
