Dialpad Furthers Video Conferencing Ambitions With Highfive Buy

San Francisco-based UCaaS vendor Dialpad buys cloud-based video service Highfive to target high-growth areas like telehealth and remote learning. 

Business communications provider Dialpad on Tuesday announced it has acquired Highfive, a cloud-based video conferencing company. Craig Walker, Founder and CEO of Dialpad said, “Bringing on the team and technology from Highfive helps us deliver even greater call and meeting experiences, better business outcomes and improved ROI for our valued customers and partners worldwide.”

Dialpad first ventured into collaboration space through VoIP-based voice solutions for businesses, with Walker leading the charge. Back then, voice-based communication was the basic requirement of any business, which now also includes video. The shift to remote work has spurred the demand for high-quality video conferencing solutions. “We are experiencing rapid growth with increased demand for cloud communications and flexible business phone systems for the work-from-anywhere era,” said Walker.  

Walker is the face behind Yahoo! Voice and Google Voice. Dialpad’s existing portfolio of solutions includes Dialpad Talk, a VoIP-based business phone system; Dialpad Support, a contact center solution; and UberConference, a video conferencing solution.

By adding Highfive’s cloud-driven, WebRTC-based, one-touch, HD-quality video conferencing capabilities, Dialpad looks to corner a $6.37 billion Opens a new window market opportunity. “Dialpad’s acquisition of Highfive makes perfect sense as businesses will have people working remotely for years to come,” notedOpens a new window Zeus Kerravala, Principal Analyst at ZK Research.
