The social media giant launched new features to help content creators make the most of the platform

In a bid to help creators maximize the impact of their content on Facebook, the social media company published a guideOpens a new window last week outlining six ways they can make the most of the platform with new features.

Here is a quick look at some of the best practices and new features available to content creators on Facebook now:

  • Advanced streaming features on Facebook Live: Content creators can now leverage the platform’s live streaming service to improve engagement and reach through advanced features like Live Producer. Going Live on Facebook will now immediately notify followers at the top of their News Feeds, enabling quicker discovery, a shorter path to tune-in, and almost immediate engagement. Live videos are also eligible for distribution in Facebook Watch, which helps more people discover videos.

  • Bulk upload back catalog: Bulk features streamline video publishing so creators can efficiently add multiple new videos to series and playlists. With a single click, they enable features, such as rights protection, ads, and auto-captions.

Creators can use the new Bulk Uploader to upload up to 50 videos to one page in a single action. Also, users can now edit titles and descriptions, add tags, schedule posts, and choose other settings in-line, on the screen. Bulk Actions is now available with smarter editing tools for videos that have already been published, allowing creators to apply settings and ‘take actions’, both at the time of upload and in the content library.

  • Categorize thematic content with playlists and series: Playlists are a simple and flexible way to organize both new and existing videos into unserialized themes, and ultimately helps people discover content on Facebook via related content recommendations. Playlists are a way for creators to optimize their publishing strategy and realize better marketing outcomes.

Facebook says that thematically-related content performs best in playlists, while episodic content performs best in series. Users can drive better discovery through Facebook Watch, Search, and News Feed.

Regardless of whether users choose playlists or series, curating content by theme provides the best viewer experience and gives Facebook stronger signals about when to recommend content, increasing the likelihood for viewers to discover and watch videos targeted at them.

  • Create and join challenges: Creating or participating in challenges spreads positivity and awareness for meaningful issues or causes. It is a simple way to put the platform to good use and inspire the community to get involved.

Content creators can get their fans involved by asking them to post photos or videos to their Facebook or Instagram Stories around a theme or challenge and tag them, offering re-shares on their channel as a way to celebrate top participants.

  • Highlight stories: Users now have the option to preserve and organize their top stories content around specific themes by adding them as highlights. These highlights stay even after the stories disappear and allow users to pull stories content from Instagram Archives to keep it accessible. Creators can also use custom covers by posting the desired image in their stories and then highlights.
